“We Cannot Wait”: Marc Ginsberg Calls for Action in New York

“We gather with a solemn mission, a vital mission that cannot wait for another war, another crisis, or another president. We cannot wait,” Ambassador Ginsberg told the demonstration.

Beyond Condemnation: A Call for Action

Ambassador Ginsberg referenced harrowing accounts of imprisoned and tortured Iranians, as well as families whose loved ones were killed during nationwide protests. He argued that these profound sacrifices demand a robust response that goes far beyond standard public condemnation, emphasizing that Americans do not need to support an indefinite foreign war to actively assist Iranians seeking democratic change.

Strongly rejecting both hereditary rule and the clerical regime, Ginsberg asserted that Iran’s future must be determined solely by its people, rather than by a monarch, a supreme leader, or any foreign government. He highlighted the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s (NCRI) transition proposal and Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan as effective frameworks for organizing free elections, transferring sovereignty to an elected constituent assembly, and establishing a new constitutional order.

Shifting US Policy to Support the Opposition

Ginsberg called on Congress and the administration to consider greater backing for democratic transition efforts, including direct assistance to the NCRI and its proposed provisional government. He stressed that Washington must draw a clear line between choosing Iran’s political leadership—which belongs entirely to Iranians—and helping citizens exercise that fundamental right.

“Americans cannot and should not choose the leaders. Only the Iranian opposition and the Iranian people together can accomplish that,” he stated.

In concluding his remarks, Ambassador Ginsberg urged the international community to pay closer attention to the courage of the Resistance Units inside the country and called upon US lawmakers to intensify their engagement with the administration to shape a decisive, supportive Iran policy.
